TIEMPOS VERBALES
Vamos a recordar los usos más normales de los cinco tiempos verbales que hemos estudiado hasta ahora. Si necesitáis practicarlos, aquí tenéis un enlace muy apropiado.
Presente simple.
- Verdades generales:
Water boils at 100º
- Rutina y acciones habituales:
I usually get up early.
- Con verbos estáticos: (want, need, like, belong, see, hear, smell, suppose, mean, understand, seem,...)
I want to go to bed now.
- Futuro asociado a horario y viajes:
What time does the film start?
Presente continuo.
- Para hablar de algo que está ocurriendo en el momento de hablar:
Where’s Margaret? She’s having a bath.
- Para hablar de algo temporal:
He’s building his own house.
- Para hablar de situaciones cambiantes:
My Chinese is getting better.
- Para una acción futura que tienes planeada:
I’m having dinner with Peter next weekend.
Pasado simple:
- Acciones ya terminadas:

- Coincide con el imperfecto español.

- Con el pasado simple para decir que algo ocurrió a mitad de otra acción:

Presente perfecto:
- Relación con el presente:

After discussing about how to avoid pollution and protect the environment, I would like you to have a look at a couple of videos.
The first one is called "An inconvenient truth" and the speaker in the documentary about global warming is the former American vice president Al Gore. The film was released in 2006. You've all heard about him in class.
Long time before, in 1854, the Indian chief Seattle gave the most beautiful speech on behalf of the environment and human kind.
This was his wisest answer to the President of the United States, who wanted to buy their native lands.

Relevancia del inglés.
Cuando hablamos de asignaturas instrumentales, enseguida pensamos en lengua y matemáticas; pero rara vez incluimos el inglés. No os preocupéis, es un mal generalizado. Tanto estudiantes como equipos directivos y claustros olvidamos continuamente que la ley equipara esta materia con las otras dos.
Nos acordamos de Santa Rita, eso sí, cuando nos cae encima el chaparrón de críticas por lo mal hablante de inglés que somos. Entonces, hacemos propósito de enmienda sin apenas entonar el "mea culpa" porque, al no estar seguros de la raíz del problema, tampoco tenemos clara la solución.
Lo que sí parece claro es que necesitamos dominar esta lengua; tanto si deseamos continuar con nuestros estudios superiores, como si queremos incorporarnos a un mundo laboral cada vez más competitivo y restringido.
Para contribuir a la consecución de este propósito nace este blog que pretende funcionar como un aula abierta donde desarrollar y ampliar las interrogantes y dudas que a menudo aparecen en la clase, en referencia, no sólo a nuestro proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, sino también hacia nuestra curiosidad en torno a una cultura y unos países distintos al nuestro.
Dicen por ahí que a menos que queráis ser el presidente del gobierno, vais a necesitar hablar inglés. Yo os animo a que os lo planteéis no sólo como una necesidad sino como una aventura placentera. Desde aquí, entre todos, podemos embarcarnos en un proyecto común: aprender una lengua y una cultura.
Llegar a buen puerto depende más de la fuerza con que rememos que de los vientos que soplen en contra.
